The solution is based on STMicroelectronics’ industry-leading STM32 family of Arm® Cortex®-M core microcontrollers and Actility’s ThingPark suite of LoRaWAN core network software enriched with the ThingPark Reliable Multicast (RMC) Server, allowing more efficient device lifecycle management campaigns. The ThingPark RMC server supports the reliable multicast and fragmentation session specifications of the LoRa Alliance and provides full support for all classes of LoRaWAN devices: Class A, B and C.
“Because LoRaWAN is becoming the de facto technology for low-power use cases, updating device firmware for battery-powered end-points while limiting power consumption such as smart water meters is becoming a unique capability”, said Olivier Hersent, Actility’s CEO.
“The key requirement is to make the life of device manufacturers embracing LoRaWAN as easy as possible. The cooperation with Actility brings a market-ready reference implementation for ST’s industry-leading STM32 microcontrollers that can be easily implemented with all the necessary security features and device management solutions for LoRaWAN deployment,” said Daniel Colonna, Marketing Director, Microcontroller division at STMicroelectronics.
