Actility powers Pixel Networks rollout of first LoRaWAN network for Hong Kong, enabling complete IoT solutions

Actility, the industry leader in Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) networks and a Cisco Preferred Solutions Partner, and Pixel Networks, the Hong Kong-based IoT network and solution provider and Cisco Registered Partner, today announce they are rolling out a LoRaWAN wireless network providing IoT connectivity throughout Hong Kong. Pixel is providing not only the network, but is also a one-stop shop for all elements of IoT solutions, including sensors, software for data analytics and visualisation, and full system support, integration and maintenance.

In the densely-packed and vibrant community of Hong Kong, which has the largest number of skyscrapers of any city in the world at over 300, it’s no surprise to discover that smart building integration with applications such as temperature monitoring in offices, smart lighting solutions for cost saving and pre-emptive maintenance of light bulbs, electric vehicle parking and charging management and hot desking solutions are among the first applications that Pixel’s customers will be deploying.

In response to customer demand, Pixel is also enabling virtual private LoRaWAN networks, which can utilise Pixel’s public network infrastructure but at the same time be extended using the customer’s own outdoor or indoor gateways. The network leverages Actility’s ThingPark Wireless™ Platform, which is combined with Cisco’s leading IoT solutions and the latest LoRa WAN (Low Power, Long Range) gateway technology, addressing the requirements of both public and private managed networks and simplifying the deployment of end-to-end IoT solutions for Pixel.

Kirill Nosov, CEO of Pixel explains “Hong Kong is a highly competitive and cutting edge city, and at the same time an open and thriving market always on the lookout for ways to improve efficiency in day to day operations. We think that makes HK a very good fit with our core business of providing fully integrated hardware and software solutions, ready to use on day one. We also think that this dynamic city environment will be a great place to develop solutions that will be easily adapted to other international markets”

“We’re very pleased to welcome Pixel Networks to the rapidly growing ThingPark-powered LoRaWAN ecosystem,” comments Actility CEO Mike Mulica. “Hong Kong is a global powerhouse of business and technology innovation, and Pixel has brought those two facets together in their solution. I’m sure we’re going to see some real pioneering development in Hong Kong and we’re delighted to be able to provide a tried and tested platform on which Pixel can build a stand-out offering and create ground-breaking solutions for their customers.”

“Cisco has been helping our customers to embrace digital transformation and accelerate the development of new business models based on the Internet of Things. We are glad to see that our IoT solutions are enabling Actility and Pixel to fuel the growth of the next generation of IoT services. We look forward to  tremendous value being realized for the community we are living in, and use cases which will serve as valuable examples for other cities in the world,” adds Argon Ho, General Manager, Cisco Hong Kong and Macau.

“We’ve known Actility for a long time, and watched their strong growth in solutions and client base , which helps network operators and solution providers lie us deliver high quality services for our customers. Supported by Cisco’s IoT technology, the choice of Actility as a partner was quite obvious,” concludes Nosov.

ThingPark China showcases its enabling IoT technologies at 2017 Mobile World Congress in Shanghai

ThingPark China, a leading IoT access management platform and solutions development provider, today made its debut at the 2017 Mobile World Congress(MWC) in Shanghai. Aligned with the LoRa Alliance, ThingPark China is showcasing its platform advantages and its leadership role in the Low Power Wide Area networks (LPWA) industry. Some innovative applications and solutions enabled by the ThingPark™ platform, such as smart parking, tracking and environmental monitoring, will be on display at this event.

ThingPark China was founded in March 2017, co-invested by Actility (the industry leader in LPWA) and Ginko Ventures (Foxconn). In the latest funding round, Actility raised US$75 million from world-class enterprises (such as Foxconn, Swisscom and Cisco) to expand its IoT strategies on a global level.

ThingPark China enjoys the exclusive authorization from Actility for the ThingPark™ platform in China and Taiwan, and the global resources and support of  Foxconn in product development, manufacturing and the supply chain. In addition, ThingPark China is supported by a seasoned product development and business operations team. As a result, it is in a unique position to provide a solid foundation for the development of an LPWA-based smart IoT ecosystem in China.

Bing Liu, CEO of ThingPark China

The global IoT market in general, and the Chinese IoT market in particular, both have tremendous growth potential. Actility has been focused on the development and advancement of IoT since its foundation, and ThingPark™ solutions have become the first choice of a majority of top-tier communications operators and enterprises worldwide. In addition, the ThingPark™ platform is network agnostic, able to service all LPWA technologies, such as LoRa, NB-IOT or eMTC.

ThingPark China is dedicated to the development of an LPWA IoT ecosystem in China, and to enable IoT applications in a wide range of vertical industries. We will leverage this opportunity at MWC Shanghai to actively cooperate with communications operators, solutions providers and enterprise customers.”
