Actility successfully provides missing electricity to the grid after EDF strike

On 9 December Actility successfully provided more than 350 MWh to the electricity grid to compensate for over 5GW of missing power from traditional powerplants (gas, nuclear). This loss of power was the result of a one day strike executed by unions in the gas and electricity industry. The protest anticipated several government decisions, such as the end of regulated tariffs, the shut-down of Fessenheim nuclear power plant, the sizing down of the overall nuclear production capacities in France etc.

This reaction proves that the electricity system is going through profound changes that will have an impact on both employment and the wayelectricity is produced in general. The events also demonstrate the value of demand side assets in the portfolio of a TSO to deal with power failures during critical times and ensure the safe and reliable operation of the grid.
