Actility, the industry leader in low power wide area networks (LPWAN), has announced the integration of Motorola Solutions’ MC-EDGE Intelligent Gateway into its ThingPark® platform to simplify and accelerate the deployment of best-in-class LPWAN solutions. The integration allows enterprise, industrial and public sector customers to implement value-added end-to-end industrial IoT use cases such as infrastructure monitoring, industrial automation, geolocation, metering and submetering.
The MC-EDGE offers extensive security, as well as reliable and redundant communication capabilities and transport across LTE, land mobile radio (LMR) and low power, long range wide area networks (LoRaWAN), making it easy for customers to implement, support and grow IoT systems that fully support critical operations. The combined offering addresses the strictest requirements for security and operational continuity by using fully private, fully redundant LoRaWAN infrastructure, but also offers the flexibility of seamless peering across multiple sites, SaaS deployments and interconnection with public LoRaWAN networks.
Actility’s LoRaWAN base station, in combination with the MC-EDGE, provides a state-of-the-art integrated end-to-end solution for critical IoT deployments. The gateway is fully configurable and manageable from the standard ThingPark Enterprise console, integrated with ThingPark PKI and can be securely upgraded over the air.
Data collected from LoRaWAN field sensors is locally decoded by ThingPark’s edge processing leveraging a comprehensive catalogue of drivers. ThingPark also implements a rich library of connectors which take care of activation and synchronization of digital twins at scale for all leading IoT platforms including Microsoft Azure IoT hub and IoT Central, AWS IoT Core, PTC Thingworx and many more.
“Motorola Solutions’ expertise in critical IoT innovation, coupled with Actility’s advanced LPWAN infrastructure portfolio, will allow quicker and more secure deployments of LoRaWAN solutions across many IoT segments”
said Olivier Hersent, CEO at Actility
“IoT increasingly contributes to the safety, security and operational efficiency of critical infrastructure and public safety organizations. We are pleased to integrate MC-EDGE with Actility’s platform to simplify the delivery of critical sensor data for such a broad segment of our customer base.”
said Scott Schoepel, vice president, Global Enterprise at Motorola Solutions
During the whole event, an Actility ThingPark Enterprise LoRaWAN private network reported live temperature, humidity, light, carbon dioxide and occupancy statuses using data from Elsys, Parametric and Sensative sensors installed around the facility. The sensor values will be transmitted using Motorola LoRaWAN gateways and visualized using IoThink’s KHEIRON Studio. Moreover, fifty attendees were equipped with Abeeway smart badges whose locations were updated on the event floor plan in real time.
