New ThingPark IoT Solution Released for Efficient Energy Optimization

Press Release, Paris 24th June 2021

Actility, in joint work with Opinum and Adeunis, now offers a new Energy Optimization Starter Kit focused on boosting energy efficiency. This IoT solution allows to improve energy efficiency by identifying where, when, and how energy is consumed and offering power-saving measures. It is used to determine the existing energy spending of in-service equipment, through the identification of patterns, to prevent costly operational spending and optimize energy consumption.

A guarantee of operational optimization

There are numerous sources of energy consumption in industrialized buildings, and these can present overconsumption issues which can lead to significant energy expense. The main challenge for managers in industrial buildings like factories, hospitals, ports or airports is to identify where the largest items of expenditure are situated in the building to be able to optimize the equipment.

The first step to optimizing building’s energy usage is to collect and analyze consumption data. For this it is necessary to set up all the elements from the kit, which have an extremely easy configuration and is focused on being easy and quick to deploy while not require any implementation of heavy infrastructure to operate.

This Energy Optimization Starter Kit, now available on ThingPark Market, Actility’s IoT solutions marketplace, allows to monitor hundreds of remote sites in a unified portal, making the company’s energy profiles visual and understandable and providing easy accessibility, usability, management, and control. The solution integrates with existing meters and systems, helping to better plan energy consumption with pre-defined targets or KPIs, improving energy budgeting corresponding to each plan, helping to enhance utilization capacity reducing maintenance and manpower, and improving systems uptime. The solution is now available on-premises and cloud-based application.

Everything included in the kit:

The kit, which offers a 3-month trial, is equipped with the following devices:

Figure one

The Adeunis Pulse Sensor which connects directly to the monitored machine. This device counts electrical pulses through a sensor. The counters are then sent to a programmable frequency through LoRaWAN network.

Figure two

The Adeunis Modbus interface acts as a Modbus master and manages up to 20 slaves connected to a wired bus (RS232/RS485) RTU mode (Remote Terminal Unit), enabling to read and write Modbus equipment registers through the LoRaWAN network.

Opinum Business Application allows to visualize and analyze standardized data relationships that may exist by unlocking meaningful insights, removing the complexity of managing energy-related data, APIs for automatic integration, enables automatic management tools and is flexible – agnostic to algorithms.

Figure five

3 months subscription to ThingPark Enterprise SaaS service, the leading LoRaWAN private network which streamlines IoT network operations, providing enterprises with a proficient UX to easily build a multi-gateway LoRaWAN network and feed data to IoT applications. By deploying ThingPark Enterprise, customers benefit from a dependable, secure, and scalable private LoRaWAN® connectivity infrastructure to enable a wide variety of IoT use cases.

Years of experience concentrated in a kit

Opinum counts with many years of experience behind their back, conquering big energy management achievements never seen before. One clear example of Opinum’s know-how is the use case deployed in Vietnam to manage the energy of a 3.300 hectares industrial zone using LoRaWAN.

The fastest-growing industrial region in Vietnam sought an automated solution to collect information to better organize their activities and optimize the amounts of energy they were using. To solve the issue, smart meters connected to LoRaWAN were installed across this big industrial infrastructure to automate the collection and analysis of a fixed set of variables like voltage, capacity, consumption every 30 minutes, including clear dashboards to better understand the data.

The deployment gained some optimal results and now allows to better plan maintenance interventions, implement predictive maintenance programs based on trends, and anticipate actions to be taken.
