Telekom Srbija Deploys a Nationwide Multi-Technology IoT Public Network with Actility and Teri Engineering

Press Release – Paris, France – 25 January 2023

Telekom Srbija is working with its partners Teri Engineering and Actility to deploy a carrier-grade LoRaWAN® and NB-IoT networks within the country.  Telekom Srbija is the largest telecom operator in Serbia, which provides services in the sphere of mobile and fixed telephony, internet, multimedia and digital.

The LPWAN network provided by Telekom Srbija serves local industrial firms, energy providers, cities, municipalities, retail, and facility management, leveraging the vast ecosystem of LoraWAN and NB IoT devices. The network also targets smart city and industrial applications as well as the transmission of telemetry data from heat, water, gas and electricity meters.

Telekom Srbija has selected ThingPark Wireless, Actility’s technology agnostic LPWAN service management platform with unified management interfaces for Cellular IoT and LoRaWAN access networks to operate both the LoRaWAN and NB-IoT public networks in Serbia. By covering both unlicensed and licensed spectrum technologies, Telekom Srbija’s 360° IoT strategy is able to offer tailored connectivity for every use case, including the ones that require 10 to 15 years of operation on battery power, like water or gas metering.

ThingPark Wireless is the preferred IoT network platform for Service Providers rolling out LPWAN connectivity services. ThingPark Wireless powers the vast majority of large scale nationwide LoRaWAN network deployments worldwide. ThingPark Wireless is designed for security, carrier-grade availability and scalability. The platform is open, modular and supports the latest specifications of the LoRa Alliance, enabling seamless interconnection with other public and private networks.

ThingPark Wireless enables Telekom Srbija to accelerate the adoption of IoT solutions at scale across multiple industries, offering seamless user interfaces for all LPWAN technologies, licensed and unlicensed. The management platform also provides a multi-tenant LPWAN model, which is key to an operators’ go-to market in IoT as it allows to delegate some parts of the network to specific stakeholders.

I am very pleased that we can make another new technology – NB-IoT – available to our technological partners and business customers in Serbia. Telekom Srbija is constantly striving to provide its customers with the most state-of-the-art technological solutions that support the fourth industrial revolution, and this is one of the very important steps on that path. The manufacturers of smart devices and software solutions, in addition to the LoRa technology, will now have the opportunity, by using the mts IoT platform, to develop and test the business solutions based on NB-IoT technology that works over the 4G mobile network. In this way, conditions are created for the business customers in both the commercial and the public sectors – cities, municipalities, utility companies engaged in the supply of water, electricity, gas, thermal energy – to digitalize and automate their business processes and thus take a step further in providing sustainable business. I would like to thank our long-term partners, the companies Teri Engineering and Actility, for their continuous support on our path to innovation for a better future
